Greg Boyes-Varley is a South African trained Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeon who has previously worked at the Morningside MediClinic in Johannesburg, South Africa before joining EvoDental in September 2021. He holds a Senior Consultant/Senior Lecturer post in the Department of MaxilloFacial and Oral Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand as well as private practice since 1987, delivering Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery disciplines to the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Reconstruction team at Morningside Clinic and also spent 2 years at King’s College School of Medicine and Dentistry in London in the academic department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he learned head and neck reconstructive surgery, craniofacial implantology and cleft lip and palate.
Dr Boyes-Varley has published, both locally and internationally in refereed journals and his collaboration with Professor PI Brånemark has received prizes including best presentation for his lectures at the Southern Implants International Congress, the Scientific session at the NobelBiocare World Conference in and at the Academy of Osseointegration. Together with Professor Howes, the implant related studies have resulted in new implant designs and procedures being published and accepted at the international congresses of the Academy of Osseointegration in the USA and the European Association of Osseointegration. He has presented over 50 live surgery courses on Zygomatic and angled implants over the last 15 years, as well as numerous cadaver workshops for oncology zygomatic rehabilitation.
His other research interests have included a doctorate in low level laser induced healing and he has lectured overseas in the UK, Europe, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, Brazil and USA. In his spare time he enjoys photography and golf.
