Do All-On-Four Dental Implants Feel Natural?

It’s easy to see why all-on-four dental implants are one of the most popular alternatives to dentures right now.  The solution is a permanent one, and confidence is instantly transformed.

If you’re considering all-on-four dental implants but wondering how they would feel when you’re eating and whether they’d be comfortable, read on.

We’re here to answer these questions and more, to help you make an informed decision to create your new dream smile.

What is the EvoSolution?

Our EvoSolution is an advanced alternative to all-on-four dental implants.

EvoSolution works in much the same way as all-on-four dental implants, but our highly specialised team add a further two implants in the upper jaw in the pterygoid, zygomatic and nasalus areas. This is a great solution for those patients who have been told they don’t have enough bone for traditional dental implants.

The EvoSolution procedure results in a less bulky prosthetic than all-on-fours, with no palate cover, and it can be completed in just one day.

What does it feel like to eat with all-on-four dental implants?

Whether you’ve had an all-on-four procedure or EvoSolution, you’ll be able to eat the same day.  You should stick to fairly soft foods for the first four months – a good guide is anything you can easily cut with a fork.  This is because it’s best to keep chewing to a minimum whilst your jawbone bonds with the implants.

After our final checks at six months, you’ll be able to move onto tougher foods – apples or steak for example.

You won’t feel any sensitivity in your implants when you’re eating and drinking as you might with natural teeth.  Therefore, once you’ve had the go ahead from our team, you’ll be able to eat or drink anything you like without any pain or negative sensations.

Eating with dental implants may feel slightly odd for a day or two, particularly if you’re used to eating with dentures slipping around in your mouth all the time.  However, you will adjust quickly and before long they’ll feel like your own teeth – but better!

What does it feel like to brush your teeth with all-on-four dental implants?

Brushing your EvoSolution or all-on-four dental implants should feel very similar to brushing your own teeth.  It’s obviously much easier than caring for dentures, which you must remove to clean properly.

It’s important to use a water flosser on your all-on-four dental implants, preferably with a rubber-tip stimulator, to ensure that no food is trapped between the implants and the gum line.

Stick to a toothbrush with soft bristles, and use a low-abrasive toothpaste, as ingredients such as baking soda or stain-remover agents may remove glaze from porcelain implants.

What to expect after all-on-four surgery

All-on-four dental implants do not take nearly as long to heal as traditional dentures. You’ll benefit from instant stability, so there will be no rubbing and irritation of your gums as they heal.  Most people can return to their usual routine in as little as a few days after having their implants.

Your mouth may feel a little tender for a couple of days, but this will soon settle down.  Be careful not to irritate it by touching the area too much or brushing too forcefully.  You should also refrain from smoking as this will prolong the healing process.
