Dental implant cost for full mouth treatments

Dental implants are an advanced treatment that can be used to restore a full bite and replace multiple failing or missing teeth.

Since their introduction in 1965, the array of dental implant procedures has blossomed, giving patients many possible treatments to choose from.

But as the choice of procedures increases, so does the range for dental implant cost.

So, what is the dental implant cost for full mouth procedures?

On average, if you choose the most well-known full mouth dental implant treatments, you can expect to pay:

  • Implant-retained dentures – £10,000 – £16,000, with ongoing housing costs
  • All on 4 dental implants – from £11,000 per single jaw or between £17,000 – £35,000 for both
  • Clinic-specific full mouth dental implants – from £9,300 for a single jaw and £17,600 and £29,000 for both

It’s worth noting, these prices will differ from clinic to clinic, so it’s important to check you are getting the same treatment from each provider – as they may well have slightly different names.

Why do dental implant prices differ?

The price discrepancy between full mouth dental implant treatments is based on multiple factors, which some clinics often consider before giving you a quote.

These factors can be varied but generally include the type of full mouth dental implant procedure you choose and if the advertised price includes everything you need.

The type of dental implant treatment you choose

While the treatments listed above all use dental implants, they can still vary widely and this can affect the final price.

For example, all on 4 dental implants rely on between 4-6 dental implants that hold a fixed set of teeth in place. While clinic-specific full mouth dental implants also use implants and fixed teeth, the dental implants can be a different brand or type, be placed in different areas of the mouth, and have more teeth per system – resulting in a change in the price.

The type of treatment you choose may also include future costs you haven’t considered yet, like the ongoing housing costs associated with implant-retained dentures, so be sure to ask about this.

If the advertised price includes everything

Sometimes the advertised starting price for treatment doesn’t include everything you will need to pay for.

This can be because clinics are keen to display competitive pricing or because your personal circumstances will mean you may need extra preparatory treatments, like bone grafts or sinus lifts, to make further treatment a possibility.

To be sure you won’t end up with additional charges, you should ask if the treatment price includes the following as a minimum:

  • Scans – which are used to check the condition of the mouth and plan your treatment
  • Consultations
  • The fixed teeth on surgery day
  • 4-6 dental implants
  • Aftercare essentials, including antibiotics
  • Biological and medical warranties

You should also be aware that you may incur extra charges for alternative anaesthetics or for bone grafts/sinus lifts but that should be expected.
